What can CVM do for me?

CVM offers a method for persons to leave you messages for various reasons, including:

  • Allowing a potential employer to leave you a message regarding job opportunities and to notify you about interview appointments
  • Allowing potential landlords to leave you a message regarding a place to live that has become available
  • Allowing friends and members of your family to leave messages of support and encouragement regarding your goals
  • Allowing your doctor, dentist or other medical personnel to leave messages regarding appointments or schedule changes
  • Allowing your case manager to leave messages regarding programs you are enrolled in

Who is eligible for CVM?

Virtually anyone who needs a method of communicating to help them become independent and get back on their feet can sign up, including:

  • Social services recipients
  • Domestic violence victims
  • People involved with the legal system
  • Homeless
  • People with phones, but without answering machines
  • Students
  • People who have no other way to communicate with family and friends

How can I sign up?

Individuals

Individuals may sign up for this service at Benton Franklin Community Action Committee located on the corner of 5th and Court in Pasco, Washington.  Just come in and talk with our staff at the front desk and they will guide you to the person who can enroll you; or

Call us at (509) 545-4042 and ask for a list of partner agencies at a location near you where you could enroll in the program.

Agencies

Agencies may enroll to become partners with Benton Franklin Community Action Committee in the distribution of voice mail extensions to individuals and families already receiving services through their organization. Contact us for details.

The Community Voice Program

The South Central WA CVM Community Voice Mail Program is part of the CVM national network of sites, helping people living in poverty, transition and homeless mess rebuild their lives by connecting them to jobs, housing, information and hope. Headquartered in Seattle, WA, the CVM National Office web site is:  www.cvm.org.

CVM is a program offered as a method of improving self-sufficiency.  The program provides telephone extensions that individuals can record a greeting in their own voice and receive messages from anyone who dials the extension number.  The extensions can be used for various goals, including:

  • Finding a job
  • Finding a place to live
  • Providing a communication link to family and friends
  • Communication with medical services
  • Communication with case managers
  • Communication with social services
  • Communication with protective services personnel
